2021 Journal Planner Workshop

This workshop is over, but check back as I will be offering it again, with a twist. It won’t be 4 days in a row the next time. Here’s what some said after they took this workshop;
“The four-day 2021 journal planner workshop by Journal Breeze was a joy. Having long admired Kim’s books, I decided to take the plunge (I’m a newbie). I wanted to make a planner useful for daily appointments and also for creative endeavors, something personalized, not cold like the weekly planner that I’ve used for years.
The other participants were just wonderful people, kind, supportive, and very creative. Kim’s teaching style was everything: explicit, accommodating questions and troubleshooting, tailoring to each person’s individual creative vision as she went along, great tips, unique vision, a happy and powerful environment, and really powerful distance teaching tools
This was a wonderful introduction to the altered book universe; taking a class with women who have much more experience was a very unique environment. Thanks to everyone for the welcoming spirit and shared insights in a safe space. And thank you, Kim, for your guidance and validation, and support! I love my planner!” Anna
“This evening I set up my “signature ledge”, gathered my 6 signatures and the appropriate tools. I took my time and followed your techniques and tips. All I can say Kimberly is this, what a revelation! The “signature ledge” is brilliant! I love your hidden spine techniques, especially punching the holes on the front fabric side of the cardboard. Every technique was easy and my signatures are near perfect.” 💚Maria Maddry
This workshop will be easy enough for beginner level and can be made challenging by your choices if you are an experienced journal -maker.
Meeting virtually on Zoom is almost like being together in-person. I have a camera set-up that allows the overhead close view for teaching, and then I switch it back to the gallery zoom view where we can talk, ask questions, and show our work as we go. Mics are never muted, video on is required, so it feels as much as an in-person workshop as possible. Another advantage to my online salons is that women come from all over adding richness and variety to the salon experience.
I don’t believe that one planner fits all people. So,
this planner will be customized by your need and desire. You will get a questionnaire I developed to help guide you in determining what you need and want in your planner this year. l will show you my 2 quite different journal planners to visually stimulate your imagination. (The 2020 planner isn’t shown here.)
You will also get an informative supply list in advance. In the workshop and a little time in between, you can complete, at minimum, the bones of the journal and a cover design you love in 4 days. It will be ready to use with January 1 around the corner! It’s likely you already have everything you need on hand.
You will start with a hardcover book, gutted, with a decent spine, and make a 6 signature hidden spine for this journal. I’ll show you my method. We’ll spend time talking about your cover options because yours won’t look like mine. My vintage book was red textured leather. The color didn’t work with my cover design, so I used a super easy method to change it. I used slow stitching on handmade paper as part of the cover decor. Anything you like is perfect!
I mix a digital printable calendar (that another makes) with my favorite non-digital papers, new and old. And, I’ve included a wide list of kits and printables in your pre-workshop materials for you to check out, and purchase if necessary, exactly what you need. I have a new idea for my year’s planner that fits my needs really well and could be just the ticket for you too 🙂 Plus there is plenty of room for the year’s growth the way I’ve set it up this time. In 2020, it was an alligator mouth before I even began using it.
